Dental Exams & Cleanings
In order to maintain a healthy mouth, it’s crucial to pay frequent visits to your dentist for dental exams and cleanings. Routine visits to Dr. Larson every six months help ensure that bacteria, infections, and plaque are stopped before they progress and cause more damage.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Screenings are a precautionary step taken to help ensure that patients remain healthy throughout the years. These oral cancer screenings are highly recommended by dentists and should be conducted frequently to help detect oral cancer in its early stages. Early cancer detection and proactive treatment improve a patient’s chances of beating the disease.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal therapy can help salvage a dying tooth as well as help alleviate symptoms and cure a problematic area of the mouth. Neglecting to get treatment can result in dire consequences that can have a major negative impact on the rest of your smile.
Kids Dental Care
Teaching children how to care for their dental health at a young age can help establish good dental hygiene practices and ensures that your child’s primary teeth are healthy and gums are prepared for their new adult teeth.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an oral cancer screening?
An oral cancer screening is performed during each routine dental visit to Larson Dental. Screenings are a critical, precautionary measure taken to identify any progressive signs of early cancer. This allows our dentists to identify symptoms early on for a better survival rate.
During an oral cancer screening, Dr. Larson will examine the face, neck, lips, oral cavity, and inside of the nose. Some of the things he’ll look for are:
- Swellings
- Patches of colors
- Bumps
- Abnormalities
- Ulcerations
- Asymmetries
How can I maintain good oral hygiene?
To maintain good oral hygiene, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste when brushing your teeth at least twice a day. We also recommend flossing daily and rinsing with mouthwash in between meals for healthy teeth and gums.
In addition to at-home oral care, it’s important to schedule dental check-ups and professional cleanings every six months, or twice a year. This allows our Prescott Valley team to help maintain those pearly whites for years to come.
When should I bring my child to the dentist?
It’s recommended that you schedule your child’s first dental appointment around their first birthday, or when their first tooth erupts. This can help protect your child’s earliest set of teeth against oral disease and maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Your child’s first visit to Larson Dental is intended to teach you how to best care for your child’s oral health, as well as teach them the importance of oral hygiene. Our friendly staff will take the time to ensure your child feels comfortable and relaxed throughout their time with us.
How long does root canal therapy take?
In most cases, root canal therapy is completed in one to two appointments, lasting about 90 minutes each. The procedure time varies depending on each patient, how many teeth require a root canal, and the condition of your oral health.
We’ll provide you with a more accurate timeline of your root canal during your initial consultation with one of our Prescott Valley dentists.
